Proposed General Organizational Chart and Points relating to management and funding of the WCC International Head Quarters Secretariat Department 

 

 

The green boxes in the proposed organizational chart are the proposed sections that will meet the required challenges. In my letter, I explained that the Digital Age, Climate Change, WCC Network of Facilitators, Micro Financing and Crowdfunding, and the like are the challenges and opportunities for the future of handicrafts. To manage these challenges, WCCInternational needs to be ready. In doing so, several changes should be made in the organizational chart as shown above.

WCCInternational has to invite experts in new technologies, foresight, circular economy, intangible cultural heritage, and education for assisting the WCCInternational in the framework of advisory bodies. Accordingly, I would like to propose the following advisory bodies:

  1. Digital Age Advisory Committee: This committee renders services on new technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Big Data, Data Mining, Blockchain and any other emergent technology;
  2. Climate Change Advisory Committee: This committee provides recommendations and guidelines for the state members that are challenging with climate changes which impose impact on their row materials for handicrafts;
  3. WCC Network of Facilitators: This network can function as an advisory committee for preparing capacity-building materials for the state members. WCCInternational renders training services to its members through organizing workshops.
  4. Foresight Advisory Committee: Scenario planning is a key factor for decision-making in an important organization like WCCInternational; therefore, to avoid less destructive strategies, WCCInternational should benefit from the expertise of futurologists in creating general and worldwide strategies that comply with the goals of other international organizations such as UNWTO, UNESCO, FAO, and UNDP.

As we all know, the linear economy cannot anymore meet the requirements of today world. As WCCInternational has a limited source of income for assisting its state members, I would like to propose “Micro Financing and Crowdfunding” as a new and complementary source of income that helps to execute a series of projects in the state members where securing the budget is a real problem. Accordingly, a small “Micro Financing and Crowdfunding Unit” can be established under the Department of Financing in the WCC Secretariat.

All these require a new website that can support all necessary services which should be rendered to the members.
